Using the oerr and berr.sh Utilities

The Oracle7 error reporting tool, oerr, and the Enterprise Backup Utility tool, berr.sh, function in the same way and use similar syntax. If the Enterprise Backup Utility returns an error message, you can use either utility to view a description of the error, plus cause and recommended action.

Use the following command to invoke oerr at the UNIX command line:

$ oerr error_facility error_number

Use the following command to invoke berr.sh at the UNIX command line:

$ berr.sh error_facility error_number

For example:

$ berr.sh ebu 3002
