Oracle7 Workgroup Server Directory Structures

This appendix describes the default directory structures for Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows 3.1 created during installation. It includes the following topics:

The letters nn designate the version number of the product installed. For example, if you have installed Oracle7 Workgroup Server for Windows NT version 7.3, the Oracle Installer creates an \RDBMS73 directory.

The subdirectories of ORANT contain the files listed below. For Oracle7 Workgroup Server for Windows NT, all .DLL and .EXE files and configuration variables have their version numbers appended. This convention allows you to maintain multiple releases of these items for backward compatibility. For example, the Instance Manager executable for version 7.3 is ORADIM73.EXE.

\BIN	executable, DLL, icon, and library files, such as the Oracle7 Server, Server Manager, SQL*Net, and Oracle7 Utilities
\DATABASE	Oracle7 Server starter database, password, and initialization files. The \DATABASE directory contains the following subdirectory.
\DATABASE\ARCHIVE	archive files
\DBS	Oracle Toolkit II message files and other utility files
\MSHELP	Windows help files
\NETWORK	SQL*Net for Windows NT directory. \NETWORK also contains the following subdirectories. See Oracle Network Products Getting Started for Windows Platforms for additional information on the \NETWORK directory and its subdirectories
\NETWORK\ADMIN	configuration files used by SQL*Net version 2.3 for Windows NT
\NETWORK\AGENT	configuration files used by Oracle Intelligent Agent
\NETWORK\CFG	configuration files placed here by default
\NETWORK\DEMO	SQL*Net demonstration files
\NETWORK\ERROR	error files placed here by default
\NETWORK\INCLUDE	include files placed here by default
\NETWORK\LIB	SQL*Net header files placed here by default
\NETWORK\LOG	log files placed here by default
\NETWORK\MESSAGE	message files placed here by default
\NETWORK\TRACE	trace files placed here by default
\NLSRTLnn	loadable NLS files
\NLSRTLnn\PATH
\ORAINST	files used by the Oracle Installer
\OTRACEnn	Oracle Trace files
\OTRACEnn\ADMIN	Oracle Trace administration files. Contains several subdirectories
\OTRACEnn\LIB	Oracle Trace Library files
\OTRACEnn\INCLUDE	Oracle Trace Header files
\PLSQLnn	message files, SQL scripts, and demonstration files for PL/SQL
\PLUSnn	SQL*Plus files
\PROnn	Pro*C/C++ files
\RDBMSnn	Oracle7 Server message, resource, and readme files. \RDBMSnn also contains the following subdirectories
\RDBMSnn\ADMIN	Oracle7 Server SQL scripts. Use SQL scripts to create data dictionary tables/views, and other views used by Oracle software
\RDBMSnn\LOADER	sample files for SQL*Loader
\RDBMSnn\TRACE	informational trace and alert files generated by the Oracle7 Server
